One of the main selling points of patio doors is that they are mostly made up of high-quality glass. This ensures you can enjoy clear, uninterrupted views of your outside space. If you’re particularly proud of your garden and want to appreciate it from within your own home, patio doors are perfect for you. Large glazed areas also mean plenty of natural light can get into your home, ensuring it always feels bright and spacious.
A sliding patio door is not the only style of back door you can choose from. Bifold doors and french doors are both stylish solutions. But, which type of doors are best for you?

At Emerald, we can use larger glass panes which don’t make your door any less secure. Our glass sliding doors are thermally toughened, making them incredibly difficult to break. We also installed an internal glazing bead so the glass panes cannot be removed from the outside, keeping your home safe and secure for the long term.
We use a gap between the glass panes filled with argon gas, Low-E internal glazing, weather-resistant seals, and trickle ventilation to help retain the heat inside your home. Our sliding patio doors are also fully insulated with the door panel engaged into a channel of the outer frame to give draught resistance reducing those pesky energy bills at home.
Emerald offers high-quality sliding patio doors in uPVC and aluminium in various finishes so that you can find the perfect fit for your home.

The cost of patio doors varies depending on the material, size, glazing, and hardware options. uPVC and aluminium systems, like those supplied by Emerald Windows, differ in specification, so prices depend on the chosen features rather than a fixed amount.
Planning permission is not usually required for replacing or installing patio doors. In most cases, the installation only needs to comply with current UK Building Regulations, which certified installers such as Emerald Windows are approved to meet.
A patio door is a general term for doors that open onto outdoor areas. Sliding doors are one type of patio door that operate on a track, moving horizontally rather than swinging open. Emerald Windows supplies both sliding and other patio-style door systems.
Sliding patio doors typically last for several decades, depending on material quality, usage, and maintenance. uPVC and aluminium systems—like those installed by Emerald Windows—are designed to provide long-term durability with minimal upkeep.
Well-designed sliding patio doors can increase a home’s value by improving light, access, and energy performance. Modern systems supplied by Emerald Windows meet current efficiency and security standards, which are factors homebuyers often prioritise.
