Swindon homeowners win free composite door installation (and how you can win this year!)

As this year’s 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway gets underway, we’re taking a moment to look back at last year’s festive competition and the prize our winners received.

Last year, we ran a Christmas giveaway on our Instagram and Facebook pages where anyone could enter for the chance to win a completely free composite front door and full installation.

Two winners were selected at random from the entrants, and each received a brand-new composite door fitted at no cost to them.

This year’s giveaway works differently.

Instead of one single draw, our 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway features daily prizes released across twelve days on our social media platforms, with the grand prize once again being a free composite front door installation.

To help celebrate this year’s event, we wanted to revisit the experience of one of last year’s winners, Chris and Tasha from Swindon, who kindly shared their journey with us.

Their story is a brilliant reminder of how much difference the right door, and the right team, can make.

How our Composite Door Giveaway winner was announced live on Facebook

Chris found out they had won the composite door in a moment he won’t forget. He was at the supermarket with his child when his phone buzzed with a notification: The Emerald Window and Doors draw is now live on Facebook.

Right there at the till, he quickly tuned in to watch Marc spin the wheel – and saw his name appear. “It was real, overjoyed excitement,” Chris said, recalling the surprise and joy of winning in the middle of a normal, everyday shopping trip.

Why they entered the Composite Door Giveaway

Like many homeowners in the UK, Chris and Tasha had moved into a house where their uPVC front door had started to show its age – and they needed a replacement. Their old uPVC door had warped with time and became brittle. This was especially important as they were in a house with their children, who, as they put it, “always slam the door”, causing the door to wobble.

They knew they needed a new front door, but life tends to get in the way of these things, and unfortunately, they never got around to it.

However, when they saw Emerald was doing a Christmas composite door giveaway, they entered, and to their surprise, their name was drawn.

Designing their new composite door

Before visiting our Swindon windows and doors showroom, Chris and Tasha explored ideas using our online Composite Door Designer. This helped them narrow down colours, styles and glass options.

But, as Chris put it:

“There’s nothing like going into the showroom and seeing it all in person.”

Once inside, we walked them through samples, colours and glass styles, without any pressure or rush.

Their original choice, a pale blue, looked brighter in real life, so they switched to French Grey, which suited their home perfectly. They also adjusted their glass selection once they saw how it paired with the door style.

With expert guidance and the chance to see everything up close, they left with complete confidence in their final design.

Friendly service and expert composite door installation

Chris and Tasha shared that they found everyone at Emerald to be “really friendly – genuinely friendly.”

When it came to fitting the door, Shaun and Josh carried out the installation – and it turned out they were both Tottenham supporters, giving them an instant connection with Chris.

“They were fantastic: always smiling, always helpful,” Chris said.

Chris, who describes himself as a bit of a building-work geek, also appreciated the attention to detail. When he asked about insulating a small void above the door, Shaun and Josh happily took care of it, adding expanding foam to ensure a complete seal.

What they love most about their new composite door

The first thing Chris and Tasha noticed was how solid and secure the door felt compared to their old uPVC one. The old door used to wobble when it closed, but the new composite door felt sturdy straight away.

They also said the hallway felt noticeably warmer after the new door was fitted – a difference they could feel immediately.

And of course, they loved the fresh new look it gave the front of their home, knowing that their door was the only one like it.
