Frequently asked questions about out home improvements

White orangery style conservatory with brick base

We always prioritise customer satisfaction here at Emerald, and have therefore provided a set of Frequently Asked Questions. These should help answer common queries, particularly about conservatories, but if your question is not here and you would like some further information, please get in touch.

We know what we want from a conservatory, but haven’t seen it in any brochure. Does that mean we have to pick one we can see?

Since all conservatories here at Emerald are made to order, you can choose any design that’s physically achievable. Contact us today to find out more about our tailor-made conservatory service.

Can I use my conservatory all year round?

All modern conservatories available with Emerald are seriously energy efficient. The frames, bases, walls and glazing are all retained to be thermally effective – meaning your space will stay warm in Winter, but not too stuffy in Summer. So choosing Emerald means yes, you can use your conservatory 365 days a year!

Do we need Planning Permission?

In some cases, planning permission may be needed, although this is unlikely with standard home improvements. The experts here at Emerald will deal with any planning permission issues for you, so all you have to do is sit back and relax!

Do you make conservatories to order?

Yes, every one of our conservatories is made to measure and can be personalised with a host of accessories and design features both inside and out.

How soon can we have our conservatory installed?

The average turnaround is approximately 6 working weeks from receiving the order in writing (depending on the weather or if planning permission is required). However, at busier times of the year the process may take slightly longer.

My builder has already constructed my base, what’s the next step?

The next step will be to choose a conservatory design and for us organise a site call-out, where measurements can be taken.

Our garden isn’t very private – is a conservatory still suitable?

Conservatories can be made private by the use of obscure glass, solid roofs or even a solid wall on on side. In addition to privacy, these techniques are also great for thermal performance and aesthetics.

We’ve got an odd shaped space/an unusual wall/a sloping garden – can we still have a conservatory?

Yes – since all conservatories are made to order, we will tailor-make options for you and your needs (whatever the configurations or shape of your space).
